First ultrasound

Wed 11/29/07 - First ultrasound. We saw the heartbeat and the little sucker was jumping around a lot. We must have a football player on our hands. Who knew there were so many pre-natal tests that can be run. So now we are debating whether we should have the tests or not. How much information is too much information?

Thanksgiving week

Fri 11/23/07 - Thanksgiving week...nausea has subsided and the exhaustion has set in big time. I feel really weak and tired all the time, even with 8-9 hours of sleep. Plus Andre's snoring adds to my restlessness on some nights...thank God for earplugs. I was worried that I would not feel like eating on Thanksgiving, but my appetite has really picked up this week. I haven't exercised in about 3 weeks and I am noticeably gaining weight, but then again, I don't miss my treadmill all that much.

We told the family yesterday at Thanksgiving dinner. Keeping this a secret was very hard. Everyone was excited. We are blessed to have a good support circle.

Here comes the fatigue

Mon 11/12/07 - The nausea is going and the dizziness and fatigue is setting in. I literally can lay on the couch all day. My emotions are going crazy. I started crying while watching Oprah interview the Osmonds.

Since I can't get comfortable or sleep well in our bed, I decided to try out the spare bedroom tonight. And since that room doesn't have curtains or blinds, my wonderful husband put some paper over the windows to block out the sunlight. He did this without me asking...now that's a special man.

Child vs Puppy

Thu 11/8/07 - On top of feeling nausea all day, I wake up with back pain. This may be due to the new bed we got over the weekend. If I keep feeling like this, we will not have anymore children and we'll get a puppy. We are trying to figure out a cute way to tell everyone that I have bun in the oven.

Why do they call it morning sickness when it lasts all day (and night)

Tue 11/6/07 - Morning sickness started. I don't know why they call it morning sickness when it last all freakin' day. I wish I would just throw up to feel better, but nothing comes up. It just marinates in my stomach. The term 'morning sickness' must have been defined by some man.

I pee-ed on the stick

Fri 11/2/07 - I pee-ed on the stick. The lines were really not that pink...more like mauve or desert rose, so I made an appt with my doc to get a pregnancy test. She confirmed that Andre had gotten me knocked up. I wasn't excited as I thought I would be. I felt more worried that I could do something to screw up the baby, like drinking the glasses of wine I had before I knew I was pregnant. We have to wait to Nov 28 for my first prenatal exam, that's when we know how far along I am. I don't want to tell anyone until after that exam. Keeping this secret will be hard since everyone will be at our home for Thanksgiving. Plus, I went to Nicki's daugther's 1 year birthday party and several people asked me when we were going to have one.
