To Test or not to Test?

I've been bombarded with the options for prenatal genetic testing. Are these tests really necessary? If they did find something, what's the use in knowing now versus the day of delivery?

most people only go through with that if there is some pre-existing situation that might mean the child would be high risk..like if you two were cousins or if something ran in either family...like that Carolina thing you have going on...if they can determine that early, they might be able to treat the poor baby earlier (in vitro for some things--chanting N-C-State, NC STATE might work)
I don't think you should do it, unless you're worried there may be some issue..
I want to know if you're gonna have the 3-D sonogram...its expensive, but COOL...
